We offer taster sessions, 4 or 8 weeks courses in throwing and hand-building techniques.
Taster sessions are 1.5 hours long in this session you will be introduced to ceramic techniques. This is a one on one or group session for beginners. You will learn how to throw a pot on the pottery wheel or how to hand build with clay to make a small coil pot cup or sculptural form making one or two items which will be fired and glazed with a clear shiny glaze and ready to collect three weeks later.
Our 4 or 8 weeks courses are 2.5 hours long and are a great introduction to learning how to work with clay. Beginning with centring the clay and throwing a series of cylinder shapes on the pottery wheel. Continue to develop practicing your throwing techniques and refine your shapes using turning tools. In the final session you will learn how to apply a glaze to a selection of your work. Cost is Inclusive of all materials and firings.
