Systemic Family Therapy London By Loha Health Ltd
MISSION
Our North Star is for all children and young people to learn from their parents, the skills they need to manage their emotions so they have life-long good mental health - through self-harm and beyond.
WHY DO WE EXIST?
1 in 4 teenagers aged 10 to 19 in the UK and US are self-harming.
That is the reported cases only.
We are in a self-harm epidemic.
Many mental health care systems are in turmoil with the NHS waiting list for CAMHS up to 3 years long. Private therapy can be expensive and difficult to access. Untreated emotional distress can have tragic consequences for our young people or negatively impact them into adulthood.
Parents are desperate and have nowhere to go.
LOHA provide a unique approach that is evidence-based, sustainable and highly accessible for all.
There are a number of mental health platforms linking individuals to therapists, and several platforms provide cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT) but our relational approach is unique. We are commencing at a time when the power of a more relational approach to therapy is increasingly being recognised.
Through developing tech for good and being a profit for purpose company (profits are reinvested into other teen mental health initiatives) Gemma and Alison’s mission is to bring about a revolution in the care of children and young people's emotional health.
• LOHA digitally deliver evidence-based therapeutic interventions that support parents and carers with the skills, knowledge and resources to help their children and young learn to regulate their emotions and develop their resilience to stop self-harm.
• We design creative therapy activities that facilitate greater connection and curiosity between family members. This enables them to have conversations about their thoughts, feelings and experiences more openly, establishing TRUST, which is core to all family members good mental health.
• LOHA therapy activities are facilitated via our conversational AI and can be completed at home on a device that suit the family (Phone, Tablet, Laptop, In-App, TV). The sessions are playful and creative but with a serious intent of growing closer bonds between family members.
• Alongside the therapy sessions we offer parent ‘drop in’ sessions online where a LOHA family coach is available to help support families as and when they need it. The coach also encourages the group to share learning and experiences to help each other (if they feel comfortable doing so)
• In due course, parents completing the programme have the option of training to become family coaches to support their peers as part of the LOHA community.
• This community aspect also leads to improvements in the emotional health of parents and develops their confidence in support their child or young person as they feel more empowered in their abilities to do so.
All parents & carers are invited to join our therapist moderated WhatsApp community anonymously.
